This online Moving and Assisting of People course is ideal for continuous professional development, refresher training or familiarisation. This can be completed solely online if distance learning is all you require in your role.

This online course also forms part one of the Blended Moving and Positioning of People course. Complete this online component and then make arrangements to complete blended part two in a classroom setting and with a fully equipped and qualified instructor. 

This course is ideal for all workplace requirements, as it includes safer moving and positioning of people as well as manual handling of objects. The course is designed to meet the requirements and recommendations of the HSE Manual Handling Regulations 1992 as well as other relevant regulations and guidelines. It also includes a module on slips, trips and falls.

It can be taken as an online or classroom course by one of our approved instructors. The online course also acts as a good refresher course for those who just need their skills to be refreshed.

This qualification is intended as a further development qualification for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is an essential part of their role. Individuals gaining this qualification will learn that any moving and handling must be carried out correctly and recognise the importance of this in ensuring a safer working environment for all. Learners will develop their knowledge and skill in relation to moving and handling, including:

  • The reasons for safe moving and handling
  • The importance of risk assessment
  • The principles of safe manual handling
  • The safe application of manual handling skills

Learners will also develop the specialist knowledge and skills related to moving people safely, including:

  • The personal safety, health and dignity issues relating to the movement of people
  • The importance of risk assessment and handling plans to reduce the risk of injury
  • The principles of use of different types of equipment
  • The safe application of moving people skills

This course includes a variety of practical assessments where specialised equipment is required. This means the following equipment must be available to use to pass this course:

  • Transfer board
  • Slide sheet
  • Turntable
  • Hoist
  • Sling
  • Wheelchair
  • Care bed
  • Care chair
  • Walking stick (optional)
  • Adequate room to perform the technique and to use the equipment

The equipment must be serviced and fit for purpose.  

This ProTrainings Qualification is also endorsed by TQUK, who is an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual. This gives an extra level of appreciation on this ProTrainings qualification. You can buy an endorsed certificate if you need one, once you pass the course. You do not have to buy this extra certificate and the course is the same whichever option you choose.

This course comes with 3.0 hrs (6.0 class) of CPD, although the time to complete the course online may be less than this. Total course time includes 3 hours and 14 minutes of video training as well as knowledge reviews, final test, remedial help and reviewing downloaded material.
